Established in 1996, our peripatetic friendly side has wandered afar: from the pudding bowl of Ventnor to the lush green of Balmoral (“What do you think?” John Edrich: “I think we’ll bowl.”), from Delhi dives to Barbados bars, from the charity razzmatazz of our six-a-side festival to the brooding shadow of Bamburgh Castle.

We now net during the winter at the Oval, but have previously used facilities in Brockwell Park, Crouch End, Streatham & Clapham High School for Girls and an insalubrious sports centre near White Hart Lane.

For many years, Toddington Manor off the M1 provided a summer home, notable for giant teapots and slow tracks. The adoption of our new Dulwich ground, Turney Road (diligently run by the Southwark Community Sports Trust), is a welcome return to south London roots. WS
